Premer-Yogi, meaning approximately “The Yogi of Love,” is a visually distinctive example of vintage Bengali mythological print culture. The composition centres on an encounter between an ascetic figure and an elegantly dressed woman carrying ritual or household vessels.

The yogi’s traditional attire, kamandalu and beads contrast beautifully with the woman’s richly coloured sari and jewellery. The restrained pastel architecture, flowering garden and finely printed ornamental border give the artwork an elegant period aesthetic.
